“Faith and the beloved” gives us not just crime thrill and suspense but a terrorist plot, data crunching specialist, sleeper cell, underworld don, precious diamonds and salt of earth guys. And it keeps us guessing more or less.
The book tells the two parallel murder mysteries extremely different and unrelatable but connected with the crime. One is of Naithy Cherokil, a rich business women whoes ideal sex slave of her husband is killed in his apartment. The beauty of this story is Naithy’s daughter Alice who is playing ultimate mystery game of her life. Other is of Prem who is in requite of his brother Arun mysterious death by the hands of cops.
The Book, modern in its approach and contemporary in the setting has managed to engage you in complex web of lies, lust, greed, faith, deciet, revenge, and conspiracy. And also managed to keep the edge of thrill as sharp in middle which falls prey to a few improbable plot contrivances and some glaringly explanatory scenes, it would have been very good indeed. But despite the flatter it remains engaging.
In characters development author should pat himself on his back for the superlative imaginary and for playing with plenty of layers like aftermath of riots in the suspense book, which is commendable. The climatic twist might leave you asking for more and at the edge of your seat (for most parts of book) and every pore of your bit thoroughly entertained.
